I have a 1973 Chevy truck with the NP205 gear driven transfer case. My original 1973 manual says to fill it with 80w gear oil. Later manuals for the same transfer case specify ATF instead, I'm guessing this was for gas mileage reasons. A 75 K10 should have an NP203 chain drive t-case so it can take 10w30 (recommended more for a 203 behind a SM465 4-speed) or Dextron II or III auto trans fluid.
