At first I thought the yoke was to far forward on the mag. tube not allowing the mag.cap to disengage the barrel lug. What the problem was is that the pin on the mag. cap is dragging on the top side of the slot in the barrel ..., As an FYI to anyone else, Ithaca offers a service for the pre-1963 Model 37s where they machine the receiver to accept current production M37 barrels which, by the way, are interchangeable without fitting.
