While replacing the distributor cap on my 83 5.7 GM small block Merc model 260 ( 6817160 ); I noticed a 90 degree downward fitting that looks like a relief valve or vacuum fitting attached to the lower part of the cap. There has never been a hose attached on it since I've owned this boat.I have a 1969 K10 with 350 V8 w/Quadrajet carburetor, 4 speed manual, PS and PB. Truck was built in Janesville. The stampings on the carburetor body are: 7045583 YZ 1276. I believe the carburetor decodes as follows: 4MV, 1975, California only. I've got a 1972 C10 with 350 and Rochester Quadrajet. I've looked but can't find my set up for the engine vacuum lines. I'm guessing most of the original stuff gets bypassed but I'm trying to restore one. I'm not 100% sure what this is called or it's function but I need to know how to plumb it out. I have changed the carburetor (Rochester Quadrajet) on my 77 Eldo (I kept the original one in order to rebuild it). Since then, I have a rough idle and exhaust gas smells gasoline. I bought one but the new one is from 1979 and doesn't fit exactly, notably concerning the vacuum ports (even if the company claims it does). Remove the secondary rod hanger and rods by removing the screw holding the hanger in place. Remove the vacuum break Diaphragm by removing the two screws from the side, unplug the vacuum hose and slide the link out of the air valve lever. Remove screw and lever from choke shaft.
