LOS ANGELES (AP) — Wes Craven, the prolific writer-director who startled audiences with iconic suburban slashers like “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Scream,” has died. He was 76. In a statement, Craven’s family said that he died in his Los Angeles home Sunday, surrounded by family, after battling brain cancer.In 1984, Wes Craven introduced the world to one of the most iconic horror films of all time: A Nightmare on Elm Street.His creation of Freddy Krueger as a demon who kills teens in their dreams was ...Scream is a 2022 American slasher film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.It is the fifth installment in the Scream film series and a direct sequel to Scream 4 (2011).
